Santa is Coming to New Orleans and Other Holiday Activities for 2015
Tis the season for everything Eggnog and with that comes a lot of Holiday activities and don’t forget Santa is Coming too! Local New Orleans Residents, check out the dates and places for pictures, Brunch/Breakfast and more! Breakfast with Santa on Canal Street was one of my daughter’s favorite things to do when she was a child. I seriously can not wait to do this with my granddaughter! Lakeside Shopping Center– Saturday, November 21st 9:30 am Santa will arrive with Mrs. Claus, Frosty, Rudolph and other holiday friends. Santa will second line through the mall taking his seat at center court. Photograph packages start at just $19.99. Train rides aboard the North Pole Express are $1.50. Monday-Saturday 10am-8pm; Sunday 12pm-6pm in Center Court
Esplanade Mall – Saturday, November 21st Santa will arrive with a second line and other Christmas activities! He will be available through December 24th for pictures at the malls center court.
Clearview Mall Saturday, November 21st and will stay through December 24th, with a special arrival party on Saturday,November 28th from 10am-12pm.
Oakwood Shopping Center Santa arrived in the JC Penny Wing on Friday, November 13th. He will be available for pictures through December 24th; Monday through Saturday from noon-8pm and Sunday from noon to 6pm. You can also reserve your spot online to see Santa.
Breakfast with Santa! Saturday, December 5th 9:00 am – 11:30 am
Come have Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 5th, 2015 at the Harahan Gym (6601 10th St.). Santa’s reindeer will make an appearance between 9:15 am – 10:15 am. Breakfast and a photograph with Santa is only $10 per child.
Brunch With Santa – Families can have brunch at the Bourbon Orleans with Santa and friends December 6th, 13th, 19th, and 20th at 10am and 1pm. Prices are $60 adults, $30 children (4-12) inclusive of tax and gratuity | Children 3 and under are free! A photographer will be available for photos with Santa for $15 and includes a holiday photo frame. $12 special event valet parking is available for guests attending the brunch. Cajun Holiday Tea With Papa Noel – Take a cruise on the Creole Queen with Papa Noel December 12th, 13th and 19th! Prices are $59 adults, $39 children 3-12 and $10 3 and under.
Harahan Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12:00. Starting at 6601 Jefferson Highway, following the traditional course westbound on Jefferson Highway, and disband after turning onto Folse Ave.
Holiday in the Park at Lafreniere Park OPENS – Friday, December 4th. Beautiful light display throughout Lafreniere Park. Exhibit features LED lights with fantastic displays such as a lighted 60-foot Sea Serpent in the lagoon, a princess and her magical castle & the gingerbread man! Old favorites include holiday characters, the beloved Lombardi Trophy between two Saints Players, the Teddy Bear Factory, and Snowman Island! The park sparkles for the holidays with thousands of twinkling lights and displays. Children’s Carousel open nightly through 9:00 p.m. – $1.00 per child. Kenner Christmas Village in Rivertown – Santa will be available for pictures on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays nights throughout the season. Saturday, November 28, 2015 to Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 5:30-8:30 pm in Rivertown, 405 Williams Boulevard. PLUS Annual Kenner Christmas Village will light up what is Main Street USA, the Rivertown historic district this holiday season. Transformed into a festive holiday village with beautiful Christmas lights, animated scenery, overlooking the tranquil pond. Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays are caroling, costumed holiday characters and Santa along with craft and food vendors and entertainment by local school and dance troops. The Planetarium will also be open on Friday December 4, 11, & 18 displaying holiday laser shows at 7:00 p.m. Admission for Planetarium is $2.00. Free Admission to the Christmas Village. Gretna Christmas Tree Lighting – December 6th at 6pm on 2nd Street & Huey P. Long Avenue, sing Christmas carols and meet Santa!
Celebration in the Oaks – Santa will be at Celebration in the Oaks each night through December 23rd. Lighting display will be open starting November 27 – January 2. Closed: 11/30 – 12/3, 12/24, and 12/31. Hours are Sunday – Thursday : 6pm -10pm and Friday & Saturday: 6pm -11pm. Last entry to event is 20 minutes prior to closing.
Santa’s Secret Workshop- Visit Santa’s workshop and get your picture taken with Santa every weekend from November 28th through December 14th and daily from December 17th through 24th.

French Market Tree Lighting Thursday, November 19
A tradition combining the best of the French Quarter w/ the best of the season, featuring 6 blocks of garland and lights in the French Market District, plus the lighting of the 27 foot fleur de lis topped tree. Children’s activities include face-painters, balloon & caricature artists, stilt-walkers, and St. Nick himself! At 5:30 there will be caroling with the New Orleans Opera Association, song sheets provided! After the tree lighting at 6PM, secondline with the New Wave Brass Band to a special concert at St. Louis Cathedral by Dillard University Choir. St. Nicholas Day Fair – Celebrate with music, crafts, a petting zoo and St. Nicholas himself on December 6th from 10am-4pm in Dutch Alley.
Outdoor Holiday Movies on the Mississippi – Friday, December 4th, 11th and 18th
The Downtown Development District and Riverwalk Marketplace present three weekends of FREE special outdoor movie showings! Dec 4th is Polar Express, December 11 is Home Alone and the December 18th movie is TBD. Guests can purchase and enjoy tasty food and beverage options while relaxing alongside the Mississippi River with family, friends and neighbors. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lounge chairs and seating. Where: The Riverwalk’s Spanish Plaza. When: 6:30 PM.Who: Everyone! How: Just show up. Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Tuesday, November 24th at 5:00 p.m.
Kick off the holiday season with the official flipping of the switch as Canal Street lights more than 1 million twinkling lights on New Orleans’ grand corridor! Enjoy complimentary food and beverage samples, live music and special guest appearances from Santa’s friends! The tree lighting ceremony will be at 5:30 p.m.
I’m a Gramma to a beautiful, funny, smart little girl who was born in July of 2014. She’s the joy of my family and I’m so very proud to be a gramma (an alternate spelling for grandma)! I am a coffee, music, movie and outdoor lover! My family and I love picnics, festivals and concerts. Spending time with my family is the best part of my life. I love my job as well!
