I remember watching Mary Poppins when I was a child and then I watched it through my daughter’s eyes and I loved the movie even more! No matter how old you are, this movie is fantastic to watch! It’s funny when it should be and of course it also provides lessons of life. The song “A spoonful of sugar” has stuck with me since I watched the movie as a kid. It helps my daughter with her medicine as well 🙂
“Mary Poppins” is a timeless classic film with a legendary cast. Described as Walt Disney’s film masterpiece, “Mary Poppins” combines live action, lively animation and catchy songwriting which pulls together a series of short tales surrounding the unusual nanny to form a story of putting family first.
Mary Poppins 50th anniversary Blu-ray edition is great! The songs are crisp and clear and some moments expand into the 7.1 surround sound format for an extra fun experience.
A little history on Julie Andrews:
“Mary Poppins” was her film debut! Her pitch-perfect performance as a magical nanny won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. “Chim Chim Cher-ee” also won the Oscar for Best Song, but at least a half-dozen of other songs were just as worthy, including “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “A Spoonful of Sugar,” and “I Love to Laugh.”
Will today’s kids love this movie? I do believe they will. If parents hold a movie night and pop the popcorn the kids will be sitting on the floor enjoying this timeless classic. I know my family did.
Mary Poppins: 50th Anniversary Edition (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) (1964) is available via Amazon.com for $29.99 (Reg $39.99) and other major retailers.
The new extra on this Blu-ray release is a “Mary-oke Sing-Along” with stylish lyrics flying around the screen while the famous songs from the film play. The rest of the bonus features are brought back from previous DVD releases, including a particularly long and interesting “Making of Mary Poppins” with interviews with many of its stars.

I’m a Gramma to a beautiful, funny, smart little girl who was born in July of 2014. She’s the joy of my family and I’m so very proud to be a gramma (an alternate spelling for grandma)! I am a coffee, music, movie and outdoor lover! My family and I love picnics, festivals and concerts. Spending time with my family is the best part of my life. I love my job as well! Blogging and product reviewing has given my family and I a lot and I have also learned a lot and made a lot of friends.
I am going to have to buy this Blu-ray for my kids. I loved watching Mary Poppins when I was younger. I loved the chimney sweepers!

I just watched Mary Poppins with my son the other night. It had been YEARS since I had last watched it and as I was singing along to the old favorites and watching my son dance along, I couldn’t help but wonder why I waited so long to watch it. I remember even singing the songs in school recitals. Such a great classic!
