Home » 6 Ways To Make Extra Money

Boy has this virus thrown a lot of us for a loop. For us specifically, my husband has COPD and high blood pressure, so he is at greater of a risk to contract the virus and end up in ICU because of it. Because of that, he has not been working, which has been detrimental to our income. So many people are in the same position as us and a lot of you are wondering how you are going to make ends meet. How will you pay the bills? How will you buy groceries? What about your kids? When will this be over?

If you are feeling stressed out, just know that I am with you. But, also know that this will eventually end and we will all eventually get back on track. It will happen and we have to work as a team to get by. Because of that, today I want to share with you a few ways to make a bit of extra money during the coronavirus outbreak. Here are a few ideas:

Make Healthy Baked Goods

If you are healthy and if you have all of the ingredients, consider making baked goods to sell. Now, don’t worry – you do not actually have to come into contact with anyone to do this! Instead, make whatever item you are making and then place it in your mailbox or on your porch for them to pick up. That way, you never even have to leave the house and you stay safe and healthy the entire time. This is especially great right now because a lot of stores are running low on items, so if you are stocked up in your home, put the items you have to use! From zucchini bread to muffins and more, test out your baking skills and have fun while also making money on the side. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!

Create Cookie Bags

Another great way to get some income while selling to your friends, neighbors, and Instagram followers is to create cookie bags. Bake cookies, include frosting, and other fun additions, and have your buyers decorate their own cookies. This is great for parents who have kids that are home from school, bored out of their minds. There is only so much school work that they can do each day, so give them something to do while they are home that is fun, creative, and tasty. A few people in Atlanta have done this already and I want to join in on the fun.

Utilize Apps Like Poshmark

In the midst of the coronavirus and after, as well, apps such as Poshmark and Mercari help a lot of people each day. Have things sitting around? Sell them! The best things to sell on these apps are lower priced items and also baby goods. So, for example: clothes, shoes, pots and pans, high chairs, play gyms, toys, and more. Some people are even selling toilet paper, paper towels, and hand sanitizer right now. But, if you do this, keep in mind that you cannot mark the price up a ton or else you will be breaking the law. Doesn’t mean that you cannot make a teeny tiny profit off of those goods, though!

Sell Jewelry

Poshmark is great for lower priced items, but what about your valuables? If you have higher priced items to sell, check out Prestamos por Oro. Located out of Atlanta, GA (right off of Lenox Road!), Prestamos por Oro offers low-interest collateral loans on valuables such as gold, jewelry, diamonds, and more and the great thing about Prestamos Por Oro is the fact that you can get your cash same day (which is VERY handy right now) and since you are selling your jewelry, there is not a need for timely credit checks. The process is very easy – call them and set up an appointment, or go in without an appointment, bring your items with you to their private office in Buckhead (they are one block from the MARTA station at Lenox), and get your cash. Their team has the most experience and knowledge in the market and they are able to offer you the most money for your pieces.

Run Errands For Neighbors (If You Feel Comfortable)

This one isn’t great for us because we do not feel comfortable getting out and about right now, but if you do feel comfortable, try running errands for your neighbors. If you have a neighborhood Facebook group, or an app like Nextdoor, post and see if there are any elderly or immunocompromised individuals who need help picking up groceries, prescriptions, or any other necessary items. I personally know how much that would mean to them! You could ask for donations for doing this, but if you are not struggling for money, please consider doing this out of the kindness of your heart.

Try To Find Online Work

Last but not least, try to find work online. This may be a bit tough because right now, everyone is applying for all of the online jobs, but if you can, search for an online job or job(s). As an influencer, try pitching as much as you possibly can. Campaigns are very slow right now and a lot are actually getting postponed or cancelled, but you never know who (or what) you might come across.

You’ve got this! We all just have to stick together and make it through this very tough time.
