Hi everyone, I’m back with a new wine review, YUM! My most recent tasting of wines that satisfied the “frugal wine lover” in me was from the Légende wine brand. I received a free bottle of Légende Bordeaux Rouge 2016 in order to facilitate this review. These wines are offered by one of the most prestigious producers of the region: Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). It’s nice to see brands like this making wines more affordable.
2016 was the year that produced wines of quality thanks to surprisingly optimal weather conditions. The Légende Bordeaux Rouge has a deep crimson color and is a well priced at $18 SRP. With 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, there was a nice smell of bright cherries, ripe strawberries, raspberries, vanilla, and dried currants.
The palate burst with flavor thanks to an abundance of red fruit, wood, and vanilla framed by mouthwatering acidity and smooth tannins. Ever so balanced, I found the fruit forward finish was quite satisfying. Pair with burgers, tomato-based pasta dishes, or a roasted pork tenderloin for a taste sensation you’ll love.
Bordeaux Rouge is a Légende wine for every day, for a dinner with friends, or a glass in front of the fire, the Collection’s Bordeaux Rouge is a well-balanced blend of traditional grape varieties consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. As the main variety, the Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine the classic elegance of the Lafite style, while the ageing gives it charm and a well-rounded character.
Hope you enjoyed the review 🙂
