Two Easy Inexpensive Ice Cream Soda Float Recipes You’ll Love

When I was growing up, my dad would take me to K&B’s soda shop, where I would order what my father called a “Pink Lady” but what it really was an Ice Cream Soda. I LOVED those! LOL It made me feel special when my dad would tell our favorite server “A Pink Lady for my little lady”, which meant a Nectar Soda 🙂 I miss those days and I miss my dad. Anyway, I have two ice cream soda float recipes that you and the kids will love!

Ice Cream Soda Float Recipes

Ice Cream Soda Ingredients:

1/4 cup milk
1 cup vanilla ice cream (or 1 large scoop)
club soda (cold) or seltzer water (cold)
canned whipped cream (optional)

Ice Cream Soda Directions

Pour the milk into one tall 16-ounce glass.
Stir in syrup.
Add in ice cream and enough soda water or seltzer
to fill almost to the top of the glass.
Top with whipped cream if desired.
Serve with a long spoon and straw.

Be sure to use different flavors of syrups and ice cream! You can make Nectar Soda Ice Cream Soda, Nectar recipe below. Strawberry Ice Cream Soda by adding crushed strawberries! Chocolate Ice Cream Soda add 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup!

Red Cream Soda Float

Pour in your red cream soda, let it stand for a few seconds, so you can pour a bit more soda. Then add another giant scoop of ice cream on top!

NECTAR SYRUP

You can either follow the recipe below to make your own Nectar Syrup or you can go to Olde Time New Orleans Amazon’s store and purchase it plus many other items, including King Cake syrup and French Vanilla flavoring.

Ingredients for 1 pint of Nectar:

  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp red food coloring

DIRECTIONS

Bring the sugar and water to boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Let boil for 10 seconds. Remove from heat and cool. Once cooled, add in the extracts and food coloring. Refrigerate.

For sodas, pour about an inch of the syrup into a glass before adding soda water.

For cream soda, repeat the above process, add 1 tablespoon of condensed milk and serve with vanilla ice cream.
