About a month ago I sent an email to the Supreme Protein Bars PR company requesting to try them. I’ve never tried these, but heard from other bloggers about them. Since I’m trying to get my family to eat a little healthier I wanted us to try them. If you didn’t know, Protein is a vital component that provides energy and muscle mass. Without enough protein, you get rundown and fatigued.
About Supreme Protein:
Delicious, nutritious and convenient, Supreme Protein just might be the ultimate functional food. Each sensational flavor is nutritionally designed to significantly impact your physique-enhancing goals. From its premium-quality protein blend—powered by ultra-pure whey isolate as its primary source—to the truly amazing taste, Supreme Protein® has emerged to become a leader in the protein bar market. In fact, no other product of its kind has earned more accolades and awards than this gourmet brand.
Not only does Supreme Protein come in bars, it is also available in powder form for those who would rather drink it. I was more interested in their bars, each of which deliver 15g or 30g worth of protein (Supreme Protein bars are available in two sizes). Supreme Protein uses whey isolate protein as its primary protein source in their bars and powders, which is preferable to other types of protein isolate because whey contains muscle-building amino-acids, as well as enhancements for the immune system. Supreme Protein bars are available in seven appetizing flavors:
- Caramel Nut Chocolate
- Chocolate Caramel Cookie Crunch
- Cookies ‘n Cream
- Peanut Butter & Jelly
- Peanut Butter Crunch
- Peanut Butter Pretzel Twist
- Rocky Road Brownie
Supreme Protein generously provided me with three boxes of protein bars to review! I received Caramel Nut Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Jelly, and Peanut Butter Pretzel Twist. I have been using these bars as a snack instead of grabbing a bag of chips or cookies or anything that will but weight on me! I have to say, the flavors are true to their description!
I can taste the jelly in the Peanut Butter & Jelly; I can differentiate between the caramel and the chocolate flavors in the Caramel Nut Chocolate; and there are actual bits of pretzels in Peanut Butter Pretzel Twist (so there’s more than just flavor). The great flavors of the bars work well at mostly obscuring the all-too-noticeable taste of protein, and the aftertaste is quite minimal. In terms of texture, Supreme Protein Bars aren’t dry or gritty or chewy as you would think; in fact, I would almost liken Caramel Nut Chocolate to a Snickers bar. Funny thing is I don’t like Caramel and the Caramel Nut Chocolate are my favorite out of the 3 boxes!
