A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
My family and I were lucky enough to be able to see an advanced screening of Real Steal. We loved it! It is our opinion that this is definitely a movie that you don’t want to miss.
I knew this would be a movie that would interest my husband. He is not a big movie person, but I managed to talk him into seeing Real Steal. 🙂 He enjoyed it so much, he told his friends they has to go see it! From the beginning of the movie, you are hooked on watching the robots fight! I felt like I was at a boxing ring instead of the movies. lol
Real Steel is LOL funny, filled with edge-of-your-seat action that has you really rooting for the characters, and has a heartwarming story of a father/son relationship and personal redemption at its core. It’s an interesting story and you’ll start to wonder who knows more about what’s going on, the kid or his father. One of my favorite parts of the movie was ATOM dancing with Max! I’ve never seen a dancing robot! lol
Another thing is that when the robot won my daughter and I both sort of tossed our arms in the air! When they were fighting, I caught myself giving a jab here and there in my seat! lol This truely is a movie for everyone! Kids will love it because it’s a ‘robot’ movie, Dads will enjoy because it’s a ‘guy movie’ and Moms will enjoy the whole movie! “It’s a REAL action movie that will tug at your heart”
