Hi! I’m Sandra Roberts, the fun loving, Tech Savvy Modern Grandma who is behind the Modern Day Gramma (MDG) blog. I love being a blogger and all the perks it has given me and my family! You can read more about Modern Day Gramma here.
My husband Brian and I live in Kenner, Louisiana. We have 1 beautiful daughter and a beautiful, smart and very independent 4 year old granddaughter. I’m married to one of the most fantastic men in the world! Ladies, he helps with housework! HE COOKS and does LAUNDRY TOO! 🙂
Fun facts about me:
I love Starbucks and FREE STUFF. Christmas is my favorite holiday! I love all the decorations, the music, the spirit of the entire holiday! My second favorite holiday is a toss between Mardi Gras (all day free party fun in New Orleans) and Halloween (I go trick or treating with my granddaughter). A HUGE Channing Tatum (Magic Mike) fan! Big fan of Cher, Adele, Bruno Mars, Usher, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood! Been a fan of Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds) since the day he showed up on “The Young and The Restless”. Shemar left Criminal Minds on March 23, 2016, and I can’t wait to watch him on SWAT the fall of 2017!
Story about my husband and I:
My husband took on a single teen mom (I was 17) with a 1 month old baby, and he’s been there ever since! He’s been daddy ever sense! We tied the knot on May 22, 2009 after 26 years of being together. ♥ Long story, short it never worked out for us to get married, then in April 2009….. Funny proposal: He was sitting at the kitchen table and all of a sudden I heard the words “I wanted to marry you for your birthday (March 8th) but I just couldn’t get it together, but I want to marry you!” My reply “Are you serious?” He said yes, I replied “SWEET, GIVE ME 30 DAYS!” LOL We got married less than 30 days later! My husband works while I stay at home. He doesn’t want me to work, he’d rather I stay home so he has someone to talk to at lunch time (he works just up the street from our home).
My family has always been my greatest passion. Thanksgiving 2013, after 2 miscarriages in 2012, my daughter and her husband announced they were having a baby! I felt a joy in my heart that I just can not describe! When they announced it was a girl, the other grandmother and I were overjoyed, another girl for me and the first girl for her! 🙂 Here’s a 3 Generation pic (I’m in black & white, my daughter in the middle and the other grandmother is in white shorts), baby is about 2 months old.
Gracen, my granddaughter, is so precious, and she so very smart for a 2 year old! Oh and she’s a very independent little girl. I’ve been told she knows more words and sentences than a normal 2 year old! That’s because we talk to her and we teach her things on a daily basis. She has her gramma and grampa wrapped around her finger and she knows it! She loves to watch the planes take off and land (she waves at the planes and blows kisses)….we live close to an airport.
My daughter and I are the best of friends! I don’t know where I would be without her. I am so proud of her and proud to have her in my life! She is one of the best things to happen to me in 1982! The next 2 best things are my husband and my granddaughter ♥!
