Hey guys, if you are a wine drinker, or even if you aren’t, you should take a look at this sweet looking ultra slim wine refrigerator!
We received the Ultra Slim Wine Refrigerator from Hammacher free of charge in order to facilitate this review and in exchange for inclusion in our Father’s day gift guide. We had a choice between a counter top model and a free standing model. Although we have an open plan kitchen and dining room, we don’t have a heck of a lot of counter space, so I chose the Ultra Slim Wine Refrigerator by Wine enthusiast. Measures at 37 1/2″ H x 9 7/8″ W x 20 1/4″ D. (36 lbs.)
We received the Wine Refrigerator yesterday afternoon, we waited a few hours to plug it in, because 1 hubby had to go back to work and 2 if it was turned upside down or anything we didn’t want to risk that messing up the refrigeration in the refrigerator (that’s in the booklet). We plugged it in around 5PM CST (4.5 hours later). We waited until this morning to put anything in it, we wanted to be sure that the temperature was adjusted and the refrigerator was cold.
The Ultra Slim Wine Refrigerator has plenty of attractive features including being very slim and holding up to 18 bottles depending on how you have it laid out! There’s a built in shelf that divides the fridge, because it is dual zone temperature controlled which gives you the optimal temperature for reds on the top and whites on the bottom.
Comes with 7 chrome removable and adjustable shelves to aide in your storage needs and options. Trust me, there are many options for the layout including if you had a bottle open and wanted to stand it up. Plus, if you had bigger bottles – it really is up to you on how you utilize the space, because there is a rack available where you can have a single bottle standing with a rack with the double bottles on top and then 3 bottles single spaced going down the side.
I actually have my 2 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of champagne and a bottle of Watermelon Smirnoff on the top shelf, I did something I bet no one else did, I put water and soda on the bottom shelves! I know it’s a wine refrigerator, but what is preventing it from being used for water or any other beverages?
Here are several other awesome features about the wine refrigerator. The fridge is dual zoned which helps with optimum wine temps for both red and white wines. The top area holds up to 10 bottles of red at the lowest temp of 54 degrees and the bottom will hold up to 8 bottles of white at the lowest temp of 46 degrees.
There is a digital touch pad on the front of the refrigerator that controls this. It also tells you the temps of the zones and you do have the option of going up to 66 degrees in both zones. There is also a light feature! Just press the light bulb on the touch pad and the fridge will light up!
The fridge is VERY quiet. It’s just like a deep freezer or regular fridge on that note. There is a reflective front and at the top there is a little window so when the light is on, you can see that part of the inside of the fridge from the outside. It’s sort of like an oven light.
Our Ultra Slim Wine Refrigerator from hammacher schlemmer is in our dining area by our table, close reach. 😉 I really like how it just fit right in and looked like it belonged. I admit at first I didn’t know where we would put it but my husband had an idea and it worked! I like that there are so many options.
One thing to mention while we are on this subject because it isn’t something you would probably think about is if your power happens to glitch and/or go out it will not set the temps back to the lowest temperature setting, something you may want to keep in mind.
